ISO 25600 - handy at times

E-P5 plus 12-40mm at ISO 25600 f/2.8 at 1/8 second made life easy. OK noisy and lacking detail but the impression of what I saw was perfectly good enough for my travel memory purposes. Here's a 1024 pixel wide copy of the a shot inside the Beer Quarry Caves in Devon, England........

Camera jpeg noise filter off

Next, this is probably what the scene really looked like, so dark that it was hard to see who was who most of the time......

Same pic, reduced brightness and contrast somewhat.

Next just for fun I ran the raw file through OV3 and then did a compare at 100%, left is the camera jpeg with noise filter off, right is OV3 with noise filter high. Remember 1/8 second so some subject movement.....

So even though I consider the top two ISO settings some sort of marketing joke, they do turn out to be useful for my purposes, most likely for small prints within a travel photo book.

Meanwhile (Lyn seen on the left of the whole image) was using her Casio ZR850 pocket camera and with its stacking ability was using ISO 800 and achieving much the same as the E-P5. Sigh, why do I carry this bag of M4/3 stuff?

Regards.... Guy
