I am also a retired wedding photographer. I have a Canon Rebel and I also have a 7D2 but had a 70D. I would not hesitate to use the 70D. Better viewfinder and enough capability for an old pro like you to do a decent wedding. If I were you I would also buy an 18-135 stm lens and take a couple of lenses for backup. I do not like my SL1 Rebel focusing system near as well as I do the 70D. I have done weddings with a lot worse than the above kit. I was, however, a fanatic about taking backup gear. I have used a 70-200 for dancing etc., but the bulk of all the pictures of mine were in the 18-135 focal length range. I used flash to bail me out in bad light. Gear does not make good weddings as you know it is the rapport between the principles and the photographer. You will have reasonable light if not you might want something like the new Canon 50 1.8 to cover low light possibilities.
