Re: Discovering the SD15...Pentax K mount lenses on SD15

I thought I would post these for those having a general interest in adapting Pentax lenses to the SD15. The lenses are:

Pentax M SMC 50mm 1.7 MF

Takumar (Bayonet) 135mm 2.3 MF

After modification, I lost infinite for the SMC 50, as it protrudes to far into the camera and will come into contact with the sensor protection/infrared cover. 135mm seems to work OK with no loss of focus range.

Taken with 135mm. 50mm 1.7 undergoing surgery.

Taken with 135mm. Green is the subject of debate.....Correct? At least I think it is green.

50mm 1.7

Manual focus is touch and go. All you can do is watch the screen and make a best call judgement. AF indicator light is erratic: sometimes it is in agreement with my best call, and sometimes it differs by a significant amount.

The two lenses I modified were purchased for less than $20 each. It seems, if the rear element of the lens protrudes beyond the mount bracket, you will lose infinite focus when you mount the lens to the SD15. The K mount lenses do fit snugly into the SD15 mount bracket......at least as snugly as they mount to my Pentax cameras.

With the sensor/infrared screen removed from the SD15, all of he K mount lenses seem to work freely. But, it is an infrared camera. I guess that is another aspect of photography in which I will have an opportunity to lessen my incompetence.
