E-M1 + 75 1.8 does Brussels 20km marathon (bandwidth warning!)

Recently, I got the 75 1.8 in mint condition for my E-M1, a good deal at 550€.

Two days later, I went to the Brussels 20km marathon to test the lens, and the camera's CAF since I didn't really have the opportunity to test it since firmware 3.0.

Well, I can tell you I was very positively surprised! I got excellent results, the E-M1 being able to lock focus and follow the subject with ease, shooting in CAF high speed 9fps.

The camera needs a short moment to lock focus, but once it's done, the hit rate is very high. I'd say about 85% in perfect focus. I also had a brand new GH4 with me to test, and while the GH4 acquires focus with more authority, the framerate is much slower (but the CAF performance was also very good).

The 75mm is fantastic. It's very sharp even wide open, across the frame. It focuses quickly, but not as quickly as the 45 1.8. Build quality is top notch, but shame it hasn't got weather sealing: it was raining that day and I was very cautious with my new lens. Even though, a couple of rain drops didn't hurt.

The place was very crowded, so I had a hard time finding a good place to shoot, but thanks to the tilt screen, I could grab some nice shots. I saw many people frustrated with their heavy DSLR while I was holding my E-M1 machinegun above their head

After this experience, I would not hesitate relying on this combo for demanding action shots Needless to say I'm happy!

One last from the 7.5 Samyang.
