Show Your Snaps...June 1, 2015

Those are some nice big birds. I hope to capture some also this summer at our annual air show.

You are getting some good photos of insects despite the heat. We are expected to have hot sunny weather this weekend also.

The dragonflies will keep coming back to the same spot, when we scare them off. But that is, if we keep very still for the second time. That is what I've observed anyway. :)

You got some nice-looking birds. What does the second bird have in its beak? It almost looks like something to use to build a nest.
Digirame,

It's a Kingbird building a nest. The cottonwood trees are blooming and the "fuzz" is everywhere and that's what he has a beak full of.

Congratulations getting the new camera. Even in cloudy weather you should find that the camera will take good photos. I live in the cloudy/rainy part of Oregon and find that these cameras do very well for what I need.

I like the picture, seeing the lone trees next to the abandoned school house. Was that taken in Kansas, Oklahoma or Texas?

Sitting in my living room I have taken quite a few test shots trying to learn the camera. But today was heavily overcast & I ventured out to take a few actual photos now that I finally got a large SD card. The only one I had was from an old P&S, a 256 mb. In Raw I could take 6 shots before it was full, LOL.

So here is a shot up the hill to the East

That's a 100 year old structure, originally a school, converted to a teachery (where the school marm's lived) & abandoned many years ago.

Agree with Digi, it is a very nice shot. Looks more like in the foothills though, maybe Montana, Wyoming or Colorado.

I think a little post-processing would help. Try boosting the colour and contrast to see how it looks.

That was taken in NE Colorado on the plains; near the Pawnee Buttes, very close to the Pawnee National Grasslands.

In the foreground is the remains of a foundation for a house or other structure; also from 100 years ago.

I went back this afternoon with my daughter and grabbed about 400 more shots when the F-22 and the Blue Angels were practicing. My daughter got about 1700 shots with her 6D. I'm glad I don't have to go thru all her photos :)

Thanks Clive. yes the cormorants are some weird looking birds. Herons and pelicans are too. They have that prehistoric look to them.

I like pictures like this. It makes me want to see the building closer up, maybe from the front, filling more of the frame. I would re-take this shot closer and from different angles. Enjoy the new camera.
