Here's an initial Olympus 7-14 2.8 review from CameraLabs.

I have one on order purely because the purple blobs from the Pano 7-14 were far too intrusive!

Yes, unless you cut UV filter and placed it to rear. Completely fixing the problem.

After looking few of the frames where each corner is has something, it looks like the bottom corners has softness but not the top corners, and when the details are closer (out of focus seems to hit some odd manner).

need a UV filter in order to get rid of the blobs? How much of a problem was this for Panny bodies? Or was it only the Oly bodies that had this problem? Sorry, my memory is a fuzz currently.

The Olympus seems free of the purple flare artefacts so far : and that is massive news for those putting real money into untrawides.
Uh, it's news for Oly shooters. For Panny shooters it's a big yawn.

No.

None.

Yes.

I know the feeling.

As have seen elsewhere, flare and CA control are excellent, notably better even than the ZD 7-14 SHG, which was already very good. Smaller and a stop faster as well.

Sigh. Must...resist...save...for 300/4....

Equivalence and diffraction-free since 2009.
You can be too; ask about our 12-step program.

Think about the children ...
I'm doing it out of love for them (fat children and a small house)

Urm, just checking. It isn't possible for someone (lets say for sake of argument a poster's wife or children) to find out the real name of a poster on DPReview is it?

Just thought I'd ask :-)

Nothing more enjoyable than having to craft project a solution on a new $900 lens.
not even the continuing enjoyment of knowing that your highly engineered, computer designed, $900 lens has a cheap, makeshift filter inserted at a key point in its optical path?

I agree, the whole process sounds like a hoot to me.
