1. The rubber grip is peeling already and the rubber eyecup falls off very easily (I lost mine).

Neither here - the cup is the same as the 550D , I had one do 3 years without falling off

2. The AF, while generally very good, is nothing special and the outer AF points are unusable with fast lenses.

because they`re line sensors - treat this as a centre point only camera

3. The controls are lacking

it`s a "Rebel" class camera what do you expect - a pocket 7D ?

4. The dynamic range of these sensors is rediculous. Period.

it`s OK but the sensor is dated - I can recover quite a lot in C1

6. The battery life is pretty bad.

over 600 shots and still going seems pretty good to me for an EOS-M battery

7. SD card slot is in the batter compartment (some decisions were to be made for the size to stay small)

most cams have this - 90% of Sonys and Panasonics including high end cams - I don`t like it either but the 100D is all about size

8. Dust gets easily on the sensoe and someteimes cannot be cleaned, but I swap lenses very often.

never had that - or with the 550D before it

9. No way to turn off exposure simulation - a real pain for studio work!

use the damn OVF !!
