Re: Opinions on 15-85 or 18-135 (STM) or 24-105 requested

I have experience with the 15-85 and the 24-105L, but not with the 18-135 STM.  I've used the 15-85 as my go-to lens on a T3i; and the 24-105L is my general usage lens on a 6D. Both are excellent.

Assuming the cost to repair the 24-105L is sufficient motivation to purchase an EF-S lens, the deciding factor may be whether or not you anticipate shooting video. If video is a possibility, I would go with the 18-135 STM.

If you are not interested in video, I recommend the 15-85 because of it's better wide angle capability and it's slightly better build quality. To offset the higher cost of the 15-85, consider a factory refurb from Canon direct. Nearly all my lenses are Canon direct refurbs and I've never had a problem.  Just have to be patient until Canon has the refurb you want in stock.
