Re: Is the E-PL6 the best camera deal at the moment?

Just to update here; I made my camera purchase today with all the Memorial Day sales going on. Not a choice most on this forum would make either. Ended up getting a Canon SL1 + 24mm pancake + telephoto for $500. My first DSLR after having used only Panasonic and Sony cams the past decade, so I'm in for some growing pains.

I had to give up on the Oly Pen because honestly the lenses - especially the primes - are just too expensive for casual users on budgets. The bodies have good deals, even the EM10 is on sale now, but those lens prices are wallet killers. I was hoping that had changed now that some of them have been out a few years but nope. Nice primes like the 17mm are still over $400. Others about as steep. Too much for us broke folk.

So despite Canon's dated sensor and such, I decided on just buying into the system. It helps in a way that the brand is so popular and played out because it makes it easier to find awesome deals on used/refurbished lol. Plus they're making pancakes now and even just came out with a 50mm STM for dirt cheap. Why can't Oly, Sony or Panasonic come out with f/1 primes for $125? I know I know, apples and oranges but still.

Was tempted by the Pentax K-50 which in most regards is the better cam but the system is offputting. Mostly all of the affordable lenses sound like 1970's workshop drills, way too loud. Especially for someone used to m4/3 silent lenses. I know Canon's aren't silent either but nothing near that bad. My dog would run away before I even locked focus on his face.
