Nice little camera but build quality is questionable.

Lol. It never ceases to amaze me, when people buy products, with features that are advertised in black & white, for all the world to see (not hidden away in fine print), then proceed to complain loud & long about the "missing" or "inadequate" features. That they never paid for in the first place. Lol. Stupid or what?

I'm mostly complaining about the rubber grip - is it a feature? A removeable and stretchy rubber grip?

The other negatives I've pointed out - well, they may or may not be negatives for you, but even in low end cameras I think 4FPS is slow but the worse thing is the RAW buffer - yes, these are no pro cameras, but they should at least allow for 1-2 second continuous RAW series.

Now about the other things like cramped controls and battery - these I admit are a bit harsh and I have pointed out that they may be due to size limitation.

AF? It could be better. My eos 300v (film) focuses somewhat slower but much more accurately. That said the 100D is pretty good, compared to other canon cameras such as the 600D or 650D, at least when using central point.

Video output on canons leaves something to be desired as well, but it isn't model specific.

Sensor DR - nope, it is worse than the competition and canon didn't improve that. I know it isn't so bad, but still the white clipping is quite harsh sometimes. Samsung has much better DR, Sony as well. Why keep our eyes shut?

I'm keeping the 100D and now I'm considering sending it in to be serviced.

I'm sorry, but for most of the bashing I don't agree - stupid? Call me stupid to my face, if you dare.

I have an opinion - it may or may not be right, but it is mine and I stand behind it.

Maybe there aren't many better options at the given price point, but we as customers have the right to demand better quality and the SL1 doesn't feel like a quality product when I hold it in my hands. My eos-m does. My pentax spotmatic (film) does feel much more solid as well. The price is low now, but at launch it wasn't so cheap as I recall, at least where I live.

With all that said, it has given me quite a lot good pictures.
