I've been shooting concerts using similar approaches since the mid 1960's so I understand where you are coming from. I used a Voightlander Bessamatic with b&w 400 speed film to capture the Yardbirds at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium when they first played there in the 60's and the photos are of course full of grain

Read my previous reply to get a handle on the settings used and why I submitted a sotc photo for evaluation. The level of noise is unacceptable for me as shown in that photo and typically I pp the raw file and never ever rely on sotc jpegs for end product.
