I'll be interested in following this one, because like you, I've noticed a similar problem on my OMD-EM1. I haven't posted yet, but I find that it only happens with one of my lenses (the 12-50) and not the 75-300. Annoying that it won't wake up with a touch...

Not that I've bothered to sort out what is happening exactly but there seems to be two things happening. One is sleep where a touch wakes it up, the other is power right down if bored so it needs more than a tap on the shoulder, the camera needs to turn off then on to recover.

It's the sleep and auto power off you need to set to suit, see Custom Menu D for those settings. http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~parsog/olyepl1/56-ep5-custom-menus.html#d and also mix in there the LCD dimming timing to also help power saving.

I have all timings a bit short but then always turn the camera off if not to be used for more than a minute or so.

If waiting ready for something to happen I occasionally half press the shutter to keep it awake and then suffer the battery drain of course.

Regards.... Guy
