OK, what happened to Lee Rothman's post

There were some very instructive responses to that post. Seems Phil is starting to overreact a bit.

Chill Phil. A lot of us have supported your forums by trying to be helpful to newcomers. I sincerely hope you implement some of the improvements others have recommended.

He got tired of the confusion and a few people really giving him a bad time. He was the target of hateful comments.

Lee was the only person here I ever really blasted. He came across with a high faluting, better than you attitude. He would just go on and on about his 1D and would make you feel like a second class person for owning a D60.

As time went on I figured out he didn't mean to come across that way it was just his personality. He wasn't doing it to be mean spirited. I do recall when I told him that we are tired of hearing about how great his 1D is and that he feels it could cure everything from teenage acne to world hunger his snappy reply was that I wasn't getting "enough" lately. From that point on I just chose to ignor him as I do many other people in life. I sure wouldn't let anyone run me out of a neighborhood I like, that is for sure.

Sometimes people open themselves up to hateful comments. BTW I'm at work and don't have iespell here.

Yeah. One of my friends was irritated with his ravings about the 1D until he got one. Now he's a true believer. LOL. Lee wasn't always tactful, but he really wasn't a bad guy. He knows a lot about photography and could be a valuable resource.

Mike, I have similar problems on this forum as Lee. In fact, he just sent me a gracious email. Here is the problem: Your perception that Lee is "high faluting and has a better than me attitude" is all in your mind. It is the way you look at life that causes these reactions. Lee never made you feel like a second class person. Feelings are internally generated. You created the feelings of being a second class person, Lee did not do this to you. It is time that folks take responsibility for their ideas and feelings, and stop blaming others.

Wow, Mike, thanks for mentioning that. I never new it existed. It's now installed and working great.

This is just another reason I don't mind OT posts. You never know what you're about to learn!

A quote from my original post

"As time went on I figured out he didn't mean to come across that way it was just his personality. He wasn't doing it to be mean spirited" and you are right I should have said "try" to make you feel like a second class person, because he never did make me feel like a second class person.
Now lets just agree to disagree.

Life is all about choices INCLUDING how one chooses to react to others. Once you understand that, your interaction with others changes. It is truly a paradigm shift in thinking about the world.

that is a perfect example of the kind of replys he doles out on a regular basis.

A lot of people are drawn to those who speak in absolutes and elevate them to expert status. It is not just here, but in most places in our culture (or at least the american culture). It is possible to go quite far by "talking smart and sure".

I agree with Ron - I never saw any backup of these claims from him. Any photos I saw were quite ordinary, at best. It would seem that someone who had the answer to everyone's equipment needs would be willing to post supportive (very good to outstanding) examples. For some reason, I never saw him do that here...
Here's an example:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=2961476

I started going after him for a while to back of some of his claims
about the sharpness of his lenses with pictures. He always demured
or offered heavily compressed, unconvincing examples.

Eventually, I just started ignoring him.
