Why no Panasonic interest in f/1.4 primes?
1

I am Fuji user now (X-E1/X-E2) but I am impressed with RF styled Panasonic GX-7 with some its great features (including -4EV AF for low light AF shots, 4Fn buttons, 3 Custom modes, sillent mode) which I think makes it a perfect cam for photojurnalism, repotrage, and also weddings. I wait to see its successor GX-8 with some improvements, it may tempt me to move for M4/3. There are two drawbacks that bother me - it's lack of f/1.4 primes in Panasonic offer exluding Summilux D 25mm F1.4, which would find place on my list for sure. But all Panasonic primes are f/1.7 that makes f/3.4 DoF.... not impressive... f/2.8 DoF is minimum I would accept for a few lenses, especially for 17mm that is my favourite FL (35mm equiv.in FF). So no 17/1.4 prime, no 42/1.4 (Leica Nocticron 42.5mm F1.2 OIS is too large, same size as big Fuji 56/1.2)... and also no 12/1.4 lens (24mm equiv. in FF) that is my favourite WA prime. And second drawback is lack of apertures ring on lenses... I find it very helpful in dynamic reportages where every split second matters.

How do you find these two drawbacks effect your work - especilly reportage, weddings, photojurnalism?
