Nikon D810

I first bought a D750 and then a DF. I did not like the D750 at all. It was all too easy to knock switches ect. This made it useless for Pro work such as weddings ect for me. The Df is superb and has few flaws. Now I have the D810 along side my DF.... and the D810 is superb !

I hate the numb nuts 36 million pixel sized files, but it does have advantages. It allows me to choose between normal 36 million or crop down to 1.2 or 1.5 DX formats. In the real world this is a big bonus. It allows me to use my 24-70 F2.8 as a 29-84mm f2.8 in 1.2 mode or go to 105mm f2.8 at the long end in DX mode if needed. The 1.2 mode is great !  I love it. Still retains superb quality while still being much larger than APSC. So I will only use the 36 million pixels when I need to use the 24-70 at the 24 end   Works for me

I am of course still learning the camera. The shutter is very very quite although it does not sound as nice as the DFs. Focus and metering are also first rate. It works well at high ISO. It seems pretty much noise free on an A4 sized print at 6400 ISO. The DF wins here of course !

The D810 seems to be all but flawless in reality. I would have preferred it with the D750 sensor myself, but as I say, those big daft files do have there advantages !

D810 tammy 24-70

100 % crop from above... rather impressive !

Pretty good at 6400 ISO

One in DX crop mode... can be handy for that reach and none too shabby !

DR seems pretty good

Responds to tone mapping rather well !
