Use either Irfanview or Faststone.

Both are lightweight, have editing functions and let you browse the files quickly to sort them before chucking the decent shots into DNG Converter

I'm pretty sure windows decodes raw (and does it pretty good) while fastsone (and most likely irfanview) just extract embedded jpg from SRW file. In fastsone to see the raw you need to open image and press 'A'. Then is not so fast anymore.

My windows doesn't.

Mine too, I was refering to my experience with NX20/NX300 files under windows 7 and NX30 unde4r windows 8 (windowes 7 doesn't read NX30 fiels but windows 8 does).

I just told the OS to open SRW with faststone.

It's a good advice, I just added that faststone doesn't actually open raw but emnbedded jpg, unless you specifically press a on every image you open.

But to view in explorer (as per the OP) it doesn't work. So technically I probably shouldn't have said anything, to be honest. lol
