Why a big firmware update is overdue!

Maybe code for focusing went pretty deep. Maybe there is a feature or 2 they found they could add by rewriting the code like 240FPS. Maybe they found some bugs that could not be fixed without a rewrite. OR maybe the rumor is false.

I hope for the first answer. Maybe they found some great features they could add with a rewrite.

The handling of the NX1, mostly regarding movie mode, has several issues. One of the issues is the incapability to "remember" the auto-focus setting for movie mode (or to apply the AF setting of capture mode), see issue #1 of my previously published list of 19 issues with the current firmware v1.22. This is a serious issue for all people who do not own the expensive S-lens but an AF-lens without AF switch and who want to use the NX1 for movie recording.

Also the way to set the recording frame-rate was pretty messed up and requires IMHO a new interface for selecting the mode of operation. In this context, also the shutter speed limits were strange and partially plain wrong, see issue #18 and issue #19 of my list of 19 firmware issues.

Other drawbacks regarding the NX1's video mode have been reported, e.g. the impossibility to limit the auto-ISO value in video mode.

But not just the movie mode was suffering problems. Also in capture mode, there have been several issues, e.g. strange behavior (or even useless behavior in some setups) of the AFL/AEL functions, see my previous post here.

Kind Regards,
