Is Dual Pixel AF wasted on a DSLR?

For live view stills, AF speed makes little difference once taking into account all the mechanics of actually taking the shot. It will always be too slow to be usable, shot to shot. If you're setting up a shot on a tripod, AF speed isn't that important.

Obviously, it's a big feature for video, but with the mirror lifted, what's the point of putting this on a DSLR instead of a competent mirrorless camera?
