Re: Attach filter to rear of M39 lens?

I'd suggest M39 lens cap with end cut off and 39 mm - whatever mm you need (filter thread pitch) step up ring inserted (becomes female whatever to female M39 adapter). I use it for mounting filters when using reversed enlarging lenses, but of course it could be used for reverse mounting filters with the lens the right way round.

Then you simply need a Fuji X reverse adapter to give the male filter thread on the camera. Male threads of filter screw into female threads of M39 reverse filter adapter. Female threads of filter screw onto male threads of Fuji reverse adapter.

Cheap Fuji X extension tubes (with a 52 mm thread) and a 52 mm - whatever reversing ring could also be used.

Here's a quick example. I don't have a Fuji X reversing ring, so I've used my Fuji X - M42 short adapter with an M42 - 52 mm reversing ring. Then a 77 mm - 52 mm step down ring. Then a 77 mm filter. Then a 52 mm - 77 mm step up ring. Then my M39 reverse filter adapter, which has 52 mm female threads. Then the lens.

I can't think anyone would want to use a 77 mm star filter behind an M39 lens, but at least it shows the proof of concept.
