SX60 and Flashes
SX60 and Flashes
Apr 21, 2015
Hi all. I have been searching here and everywhere for a few weeks now and cannot find an answer to my problem. So recently I decided to get more serious about my picture taking and got the new sx60hs (and the fact that my previous camera (sx110) decided not to focus anymore). I've been pretty happy with it so far but I have some questions that other sx60 owners could help me with. After I got the camera I knew that the next big accessory is a flash. Seeing as I'm just starting to get serious about photography I did not want to make that big of an investment yet so I got the Neewer TT560 flash off amazon. So my problem is this. It does not in any way work on the hot shoe. It works perfectly in slave mode when using the pop up flash. When I put it on the camera the flash is disable. I know this flash is not TTL and will not adjust automatically, but the hot shoe should still be sending a fire signal, right? Has anyone else had problems with non-Canon flashes on Canon cameras? Does Canon disable the flash if it does not sense a Canon flash? I want to make my photography better with flashes, but I cannot justify spending half as much on a flash as I did on the camera. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
