Re: Samsung 45mm vs Rokinon 85mm?

I have the Samyang but not the 45 mm. I can say that it has the most absolutely ridiculous longitudinal chromatic aberration I've yet seen on a lens (aka bokeh fringing), but it's the only 85 1.4 I have so maybe it's normal for this type of lenses. The bokeh is very smooth, I would even say boringly smooth, which seems to be the rage these days. Also difficult to use because the focusing ring is very very stiff (very). This seems to vary and maybe nowadays it's not so bad anymore. I'll have to open mine one of these days and lube it, it's almost unusable.

Do not expect to use it indoors, the focal length is too long (unless you leave in a mansion). Sure, you could use it maybe for head and shoulders shots, but for those the problem will be that an 85 1.4 is quite useless (dof is too thin to get anything in focus), you can get plenty of background blur with a fast 50 at such close range and still have more versatility.
