Why would I ever get the 24-105mm STM over the 18-135mm 5.6 STM?

Better IQ. The plots at SLRGear suggest that the 24-105STM will resolve more, have lower distorsion, vignette less and suffer decreased chromatic aberration. If true, that alone would get me, myself, personally, to choose it over the S lens. I bet the EF lens is a crackerjack on APS-C where its FF foibles are sharply mitigated, if not eliminated.
