First, thank you to everyone here for all the information I've learned about the NX1 over the last 7 or 8 weeks as I lurked often on this forum (only actually posted twice I think.) Based on your threads and the recent DPR release of its review, I hit the BUY button this morning at B&H. (I've know Herman - the "H" in B&H, "B" is his wife - since he opened his first store on Warren Street in downtown NYC in 1973 and he runs a great operation.) Ordered the kit with 16-50 2.0-2.8 S lens and vertical grip, plus added the 50-150 2.8 S lens. Have to admit that the $400 package savings that ends tomorrow prompted me a bit to do it now rather than later. A 64GB very fast SD card, cable release and Canon FD lens to NX adaptor rounded out the purchase.
I'll be very interested to see how my 40 year old FD glass collection (from 17mm to 400mm) performs on this camera's APS-C BSI sensor. (When the FD 400mm lens was announced, Herman was able to get his hands on the first one that came into the country. As a regular weekly customer, he offered it to me the same day at a very generous price. 40 years later, I still have it. Thanks Herman.) However, the two new lenses should cover most of my usual needs. I keep an EXIF database of all my digital images. Over the last two years, 52% of my work has been in the 24mm to 225mm (FF equiv.) focal length range of the new lenses combined. For the rest, I'll at first see how the long FD glass performs. I'll also look into the Canon EF to NX converter for my long EF glass. And then there's always waiting to see what's on Samsung's roadmap.
Thanks again for all your help. The package should be arriving Monday and I'll be reporting back soon.
