Which adapter do i need to hook up my Canon t2i to a Nikkor lens?

How it works is like this: You set the camera to Av. You frame judge the focus when the lens is wide open(ish). You then close the aperture to the wanted stop via the aperture ring (counting the clicks) and take the shot.

And didn't I read somewhere that putting old Nikon lenses on digital Nikon bodies would damage the electrical contacts?

No, it will damage the aperture lever.
