SX60HS quibles and a few plusses.

Received a new SX60HS which was to upgrade my SX40HS. Good move? Not really. In fact for my particular use (travel and around home) the 40 offered equal or sometimes better IQ with a more than adequate Zoom range.

It's not all bad as the EVF and LCD has indeed been improved and that grip is almost worth the price alone. The negatives are the bulk and weight. And that "over-done" tele end is ridiculous. Once zoomed all in, even with the IS stabilized, hand held shots are hit and miss, mostly miss. Any atmospheric haze adds to the problem. I know, just don't go there as 50x is more than enough.  The wide end is certainly a big plus.

Today's announced Sony HS90V seems to be the very best "all-around" perfect camera. It will be very interesting to see test results and I just may become a Sony customer. The price is very reasonable. Canon take note. It can be done.
