What a bargain!

I have an amusing story!

We had friends over for dinner on Friday evening. My friend told me that a few days ago he had purchased the Nikon d5500 kit at Sams club. He told me the price and I mentioned that I had a d5100 that I sold and I would love to try it.

I also at that time told him of my $200 T3 purchase.

We agreed to swap cameras for the weekend.

I must say I enjoyed using the Nikon. I did not change any of his settings as I thought it would be impolite. I shot in Raw + jpg. Nice camera.............but not a huge difference in JPG or Raw IQ from the T3 in my opinion.

I went to his house to return his camera and pick up my T3. We had a beer and spoke for a while. All the time he was asking me about the T3. Where I got it, how much it was, etc etc etc.

Well to make a long story short he called this AM and said he had returned the Nikon this AM to Sams and had purchased a T3 on ebay last night. Saving himself a whopping $650!!!! He confided he thought the T3s pics were better and was absolutely depressed he spent so much. I told him I had pretty much dialed in the JPGs on the T3 but he said the 5500 was exactly the way he got it. Even with adjusting it probably would only be marginally better, if at all.

He is now awaiting his T3 in the mail , with about $650 more in his pocket which he will use part  (about $100) to buy the 55-250mm lens that was in the Nikon kit.

Net savings between $500-$550.
