Just in case anyone is looking for one, might come down to a decent price. Current Amazon price is £700.

Where does it state this on Amazon? Also there seems to be two different versions of this lens on Amazon. Not sure why

€800 on Amazon.de (£580)

Lightning deal price £499, a bit more realistic, for those that are interested.

cheers,

Will

Is it worth purchasing this and selling my 18-105mm lens? Would probably be able to get £300 for the 18-105mm so would have to pay £200ish on top

All I can say is that I wouldn't, as you have the range covered well for a single lens, There will be negligible difference in quality between the two.

cheers,

Will

Yeah I don't think I will. Was only thinking about the less weight and size of the 16-70mm but not worth it for the extra money

Amazon USA has this lens currently on sale for $760, but it is stated as the "INTERNATIONAL" version though, which I understand is not covered by warranty with Sony U.S.A. ? they also have the U.S. Version listed, but that one is priced at $998.00. So I'm curious, what the Hec is the difference in the lens itself..... anyone?

Here is what was listed in the Amazon ad for the INTERNATIONAL VERSION as the last feature:

"This version is originally intended for sale outside the US and may contain adapters, manuals, and warranties not compatible with US standards."

Almost certainly no difference in the lens itself, although the instructions may be in an Asian language. They are all manufactured at the same plant in Thailand.

You can get even cheaper on eBay for grey market lens from Hong Kong or Japan.

No us warranty means no service from us company. Need to ship back to Japan for international warranty or store warranty. Basically a trade of lower price vs. warranty.

It's over :-(

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Actually einfinity always sells at that "lightning deal" price on ebay :)

Yep, no big lost here. As there are a few eBay importers who are selling this lens under £500 at any time.

No big loss, didn't expect the price to beat other retailers. It's just I know some only like to buy from main retailers and not some guy/girl on Ebay with a quickly thrown together web page...
