Re: Canon 35 f1.4 or f2 walk around Asia night time

I have used the 35mm IS for some time now and it is one of my favorite lenses. It may not be perfect in any aspect, but it is very, very good in all aspects that matter and has never let me down. If a photo is bad, that was my fault.

IQ is great, AF is very consistent, even on older cameras, IS just works. It has a very good size and weight. (the 40mm pancake f.e. is a bit too small for my taste.)

f/1.4 vs IS: yes, a fast lens is great, but f/2 on FF gives shallow DOF already and if you need more DOF (and less vignetting), you have to stop down. At f/4 IQ of the 35mm L and the IS are very similar, but the IS makes a big difference.

I love all my L's, but the 35IS is a workhorse that gets me the shoots, every single time.
