unhappy with my 20mm

or rather with 20mm in general, I loved it on my dx camera and therefore when I got a fx camera I got the 28mm 1.8g, but im my fx I am finding it hard to find compelling or interesting shots with this focal length.

Another thing I've noticed is my tendency to zoom too deep into the images im shooting, im not a pixel peeper, but when I look at wide shots I cant help but zoom deeper into them than the lens is good for. I think that's adding to my disappointment.

I think its my own shortcoming as a photographer, but it seems like every shot I take or want to take there's something in the background ruining it. I can see it being a good landscape lens but as a walk around do any of you guys like this focal length, or a better question is are there accomplished photographers out there that just don't care for ultra wides? It seems like everyone else just raves about lenses in the 14-20 range. Am I missing the point?
