After a few hours of shooting side-by-side shots, the Q would be my camera of choice when shooting JPEGs. More often than not, the Q images, come out a little sharper, not only in the center, but in the corners. I suspect there is more sharpening done to the Q and it is very effective.  Where there was a difference in the metering the Q produced a shot that was better balanced. The fine-grain sand noise is very much reduced. The noise in the shadow appears to be about equal to the M. I shot a series of 12 comparisons, most on tripod and all AF. Light was harsh as I shot close to noon. Not the pools are painted white and the bottoms are very reflective. Don't read too much into this with respect to the M. We are talking about JPEGs only.  I haven't had a chance to spend some time in SPP and Photoshop/LR.
