Of course, regardless of the model and the shutter design/manufacture, the shutter in any camera can fail at any time.

True

In any event, the XT/350D is an obsolescent piece of equipment.

A buddy gave me one yesterday. He'd had it in a box for years. He said, "You shoot Canon. Here." I put my 28-105 on it. Seems nice. 8MP is small, but it's fine for web and whatever. The screen is small, but the camera has the extra LCD on the back. AF is OK, IQ seems OK. Looks and acts like a Canon. I might get a surprise if I turned the aperture down to f16; but I usually shoot from f4 to f8. I don't know how long it will last or how many shots I may get out of it, but it fits in a small bag. I can loan it to a pint-sized shutterbug without worrying about it.

LightZone is pretty cool, BTW.
