Somehow I am not able to apply mysets on the PM2.

In the PASM mode I go to the menu and store the current setting to myset1, e.g. A-mode with aperture f2. I also assigned the fn-button to myset1. Now I change the aperture to e.g. f4. I press the fn button and see "My1" and the stored aperture "f2" on the screen as long as I keep the fn button pressed. But as soon as I release the fn button the setting is back to the former "f4". Meaning the stored setting is not taken over.

Also if I go to the menu and want to take over the myset1 and confirm with "yes" then nothing is happening, meaning the stored setting is not used.

Saving the myset works (because I can see the values on the screen as long as I press the fn button), but it looks like the current setting is blocked for being overwritten by the mysets.

The manual doesn't give any indication that myset would not work in certain situations or settings. I guess I do exactly as the manual says but the mysets are never applied in my case.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Unfortunately, you're not doing anything wrong, AFAIK.  Until the release of the E-M10 (or maybe the E-M1, which I don't have experience of), the Fn button-press MySet operation really does require you to hold down the Fn button to keep the MySet engaged - with the more recent models, it finally operates as a toggle function, which is much better.  The E-PL5, released at the same time as the E-PM2, brought in the possibility of overwriting mode dial positions with MySets, which handily got around this limitation, but of course one of the characteristics of the E-PM2 is no mode dial, so that's not a possibility with it.

I have to admit I haven't experimented much with the through-the-menu option for engaging a MySet, as I find it a bit problematic to revert to non-MySet operation afterwards with that method(which is my own fault for not paying enough attention to MySets so far, despite viewing them as a useful feature - I'm usually happy enough just changing settings individually, on the fly).
