Re: Micro 4/3 wide angle options

This thread has been very interesting, and timely since I have been thinking about how to get wide angle shots with my 4/3 cameras. There really are not so many good choices. A 12mm 4/3 lens is actually a 24mm lens in full frame aspect, and 24mm is not that wide for many landscapes or interiors. Even a 9mm 4/3 lens is only 18mm in full frame terms. Then too, I have been spoiled by some of the great full frame lenses like the Nikkor 14-24mm Zoom.

I occurred to me that I have a beautiful Nikkor 20mm 2.8 which is as sharp as any lens I could want. If I coupled that lens with a Metabones Speed Booster, I would have the equivalent of a 14mm lens in full frame at a f2.0 in 4/3. The 20/2.8 is a small light lens, and the Metabones adapter will not make it larger than many 4/3 lenses. Sure, I lose AF, but WA lenses at distance I intend to use it have lots of focus leeway. As a bonus, I have lots of other Nikon legacy glass that I can use the Metabones with. Having convinced myself, I ordered one, and we'll see how it works out.
