Some help with shutter half-press on T4i please, people

Situation: Night-time astro photography session

Exposure settings : Manual, ISO manual

Focus manual either with lens or T-ring to telescope

Shutter usually set to 20 seconds or B.

Triggered by intervalometer with 5 second delay.

LiveView : On full-time.

Problem arises when I'm previewing a pic(s). To get back to imaging, we can either press the Preview button again or the shutter button. But it's always easier for me to "find" the shutter button in the pitch black darkness. In most cases, doing a half press will bring me back to imaging mode. A few times, doing that would trigger the shutter instantly. Even using the instant trigger on the intervalometer would trigger the shutter at half press. This is not such a big deal since I don't need to do AF or AE but it is a nuisance since I'll have to wait for the long-exposure to finish, and get back to my pics to delete the unwanted pic.

I feel that it is some setting or combination of settings I'm doing that causes this to happen. Any ideas what it is?

Thanks

Roger
