Re: Decided on JPG Why?

I think you're right! I have a friend, photo hobbyist like me, but he thinks he's a photographer, thus he got a DSRL and some lens and not a lot of knowledge, but a lot of self-appreciation

And he told me ex cathedra: "Shoot RAW! ALWAYS shoot RAW!" Having an SX50 I obeyed and I was fascinated by the possibilities of PPing the images (i.e. information) with DPP. After several months however I've remarked that, at least for the tiny sensors of my cameras (all super zooms), the differences between JPEG (with custom settings) PPed with Faststone and my DPPed RAWs weren't always in the favor of the later.

Since then I reverted to JPEG and never looked back

I understand there are professionals, artists, etc. that NEED to shoot RAW, but I'm absolutely convinced that at an amateur level the justifications are superfluous and elitist. And... why there are famous photographers that shoot always JPEG?

Happy shooting,

Augustin
