Too low resolution for me
I tried a MkII as my Mk1 is getting older and older and the mileage is heading for London Taxi levels - Shot RAW and developed In Capture one .. the lens was sharp enough but it was like shooting down a toilet roll at the wide end meaning that once you`d de-fished the image in PT lens and cropped from the centre without the black bits you ended up with about 10Mp - hence why people are finding the wide end soft on this camera as the JPG engine does this then upsizes to 13Mp !! ..
The Mk1 has a small bit of this but you still end up with a slightly wider than 4:3 , 13Mp image and with any zoom used at all, the full 14Mp --- the Mk2 is almost like shooting an APS-C lens on full frame at the wide end , the long end is far from perfect too . 10Mp is unacceptable , Heck the 14Mp of the Mk1 is low thesedays .. that lens is fast and NOT soft when not upsized by a JPG engine but it doesn`t even come close to covering the 1.5" sensor . I need a resolution Increase in an update not 4Mp less !! .
The Mk2 is faster than the Mk1 in good light but not much if any faster in low light - the twist LCD and Exposure comp dial were big losses off the Mk2 also (Canon obviously agreed as the comp dial reappeared on the G7X and EOS-M3) ..
I`ll stick with the Mk1 until they put a lens on the cam which covers the sensor areas , has a built in EVF, it up to speed AF wise and uses a chunk from the new 24Mp sensor . the Mk1 still rules the G1X line for me despite it thinking that "macro" is 4 feet away
