Agree -- the C1 rendering is terribly oversharpened and overcooked. The softness on the man's face has nothing to do with rendering, no RAW converter can treat it properly. It's either due to a slight movement of the subject during the shot, or the face was to the front of the in-focus plane/zone. Compare it with the neck or the sweater collar -- those are sharp to the extent that you can reasonably expect an S5 photo to be sharp (given the strong AA-filter).

Mmmm, yes and no  :-).

What I have experienced is that I need to have really steady hands before I shoot and If I can shoot at a high shutter speed.  I usually don't carry a tripod around.  When I have that in mind I usually get the shot nice and sharp.  If I try to hurry and move too fast I most likely will get a blurry shot.  Even with the strong AA filter the S5 is still VERY capable of producing nicely sharp images.

But no, is impossible to try to match a sharp picture from a Xpro1 with a fuji lens

BTW I'm just trying to 'cozy up' to an X-PRO1, after years with an S5PRO, but at the moment I still don't see its output beating (or even matching) the S5 in tonality and DR -- though it's a clear winner on resolution/sharpness.
