Thanks, that is a tolerable low hiss, almost as low as normal background noise, i could live with that

Anyway for video, I would always recommend a mic on the hotshoe. Image is important, but sound as well. Especially for lectures which can be very irritating without a proper sound.

Yes, i tested audio equipment a few weeks ago, and found out the best was to put a label microphone on the lecturer himself, although the sound quality is even better with directional microphones that is only working with people who sit still or from a greater distance

Two years ago i recorded an important lecture using only the panasonic LX5 with quite good results, yet i can hear that the FZ1000 would be too noisy for that, it was a situation with no time for preparation and noone else recorded the event, so i found it important to be ready any time, and then there might be no microphone ready to use
