Okay, so I wanted to buy a V3 and 70-300mm lens - surely a simple process in the UK! See my other thread on this. Anyway I contacted WEX (a big online supplier in UK) today and they don't have any idea when they will receive more V3 kits from their supplier. Jessops appear to have some in stock - but they are more expensive. I have purchased the lens to use with my V1 so all is not lost but I am surprised about the lack of availability of V3 kits. Anybody else had similar problems?

The big boys here in the US (Adorama, Amazon and B&H) are all in stock - as are accessories. Not sure what is going on. One could hope it would be selling more than they thought but not sure that is the case. I know initial demand (when new) was much higher than Nikon accounted for and they actually apologized.

I know here the 70-300 is pretty hard to find - generally takes 3 weeks or so to get those back in stock.

Would be interesting to see how the big shops in Japan are stocking?

Mike

I live near Tokyo so I'm not sure about other regions, but the big stores that I've gone to, ビックカメラ (Bic Camera), ヨドバシ電気 (Yodobashi Denki), and コジマ (Kojima), have the V3 in stock and still on display. They used to have the V2 on display next to it but it seems that the Kojima near me took that down. The J4 and AW1 are still on display.

I've never seen a 70-300mm on display in any shop, only at the Nikon building in Shinjuku and at CP+ in Yokohama. I'm not sure of it's availability in store because if I asked about it I would feel obligated to buy one, but it is available online on kakaku.com .

If you still want to buy a V3 they are generally available in the Netherlands. The Euro is low at the moment and you can order on the internet and pay by credit card.

This is from a site that collates price information: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/375903/nikon-1-v3-body-zwart.html

The row of stars is a store rating. Coloured lorries indicate delivery status/availability. The two prices are excluding/including delivery within NL. The blue 'Bekijk' box takes you to the webpage of the store for the item (in this case the V3).

Ebay UK -due to exchange rates Euro prices are favorable Germany is good value also Netherlands- they are not hard to find; I am sure Nikon have a EU warranty?

Ebay £499 from Germany with kit lens -far better than £800 at rip-off Wex.

I've just bought a lens in NL (I live here). It came with a one-year worldwide Nikon guarantee.

Last week I bought a V3 with kit zoom lens at Jessops for a 'discounted' price of 499 Pounds.
