Re: CAF dilemma

To be honest I would have thought that continually autofocussing - even when no button is depressed on the camera would have been a bug in the firmware. It must consume the battery very quickly.

I have an NX1100 and NX3000 and the behaviour of CAF is as you describe; you need to half depress the shutter button to activate it.

I don't use or see much benefit of CAF on either of these cameras as it is not quick enough to be of value. I prefer the predictability of SAF.

On my Pentax DSLRs I like to assign the AF activation to another button with CAF and the shutter button to not activate AF in anyway. This gives very precise control of when and when not to apply AF. I do wish I could assign CAF to the custom button on my NX cameras (I'm sure that could be done in Firmware), but I think even on the NX1 the AF on Shutter button can't be switched off which makes assigning it to a custom button a bit pointless.

I can see why not many people would want the feature you want - give the impact on battery life.
