E-M5 MkII Movie - Lock Aperture, Shutter and float ISO? IS it possible?
Mar 7, 2015
Hi!
Pretty New to the E-m5 and wonder if someone have a solution for this problem.
What I want is this:
Be able to (in movie mode) lock Aperture and Shutter and let ISO work in Auto. Unfortunately it seems that there is NO way to do this, really stupid in my opinion. If you have a manual lens you can just set it to S-mode and then auto-ISO works fine. But if you want to use M mode? I understand that M is made to let you lock all settings (incl. ISO). But there ought to be some way that you can lock down 2 parameters and let the 3:rd one use auto...
Auto ISO works nice in P,A and S mode but not in M, kind of irritating if you ask me. I had the same problem with my GX7 before I found a workaround. On the GX7, what you will have to do is to use the "flicker decrease" function and choose a value that you want your shutter speed to be. Then you can choose Aperture priority in the camera mode and just press the movie button to start filming. That way the aperture is locked, the shutter is locked to the value you choose in "flicker decrease" and auto ISO works perfect. I know, It´s a weird way to make it work instead of the Camera producer just make it a choice in the Movie mode, but it works.
Is there any way Oly can be made to do the same. And WHY oh WHY can´t you do it from the beginning???
It must be of very high interest among film makers to have the option to use a lens in autofocus mode, lock aperture for the DOF you want, lock the Shutter speed to 2xFPS (kind of a standard) and just let the ISO float when filming if the exposure level differs in the take??? WHY?
Or have I missed something? Is it me who is way off thinking this?
So, If anyone have a solution, please post
Thanks in advance!
