So Voldemort has been telling porkies!!

I'm no Brit, but I think this is Cockney.

Porkies = porkie pies

Porkie Pies = lies

Strange and amusing at the same time. One of my faves is "dog and bone." Now you'll have to guess what that means.

Now why doesn't that surprise anyone!

Although Robin isn't completely impartial I do tend to believe him over that guy any day of the week.

What does "Voldemort telling porkies" mean?

I don't have an axe to grind in this - I couldn't care less about video - but the back and forth war over EM5mkII video is getting tedious. I understand you really like the mkII, that is great and I'm happy for you. A lot of others will like it too and some won't, that's life. At some point some person will present a scientifically conducted study under controlled conditions and either make your day or ruin it concerning the mkII video but I really don't think Robin Wong's attempt is any more definitive than any other to date.

I've always found Andrew to be a good source, plus calling him a liar in public, rather than suggesting he might be mistaken in some way, seems brave to me...

Personally I'd take his opinion on video over Robin's or any random forum poster (well, not Philip Bloom). That's just me though, everyone is welcome to their opinions.

I'd just like to point out that I have no relation to Voldemort, and have been using this nick since before the first Harry Potter book came out in the UK. :P

Hmm while I dont know Andrew personally I can say that on the majority of video forums, like personal view where the nickname came from, he is considered a joke. Very few people in the video oriented forums take his opinions seriously and he is treated like a yipping chihuahua. I'm not saying he deserves such treatment or that its warranted. Just pointing out that among those who are very video oriented his opinion holds little to no water.

Again, if he's litigious I hope you have a lot of evidence to take to court... there is a lot to be said for careful phrasing of disagreements...

Maybe you ought to take a deep breath.

Reid is giving a subjective opinion. Even if others disagree with his assessment, it is highly unlikely that he is lying.

Wong is not a video guy, and is an Olympus employee, and was very politely disagreeing with Reid.

Boy am I glad that has been cleared up! :)

You only see what you want to see.

EOSHD is about serious video.

Just about everyone serious about video who reviews the 5ii and likes it includes some other statement about it NOT being a competitor to a GH4 or some other cameras or it is an improvement FOR OLYMPUS.

It does seem like it is ok for casual video but it seems like it is nothing special.

For stills it seems nice enough though nothing special to me there either.

Your GX7 was better than anything (until you got a Oly 5ii)....

Enjoy your camera, it looks great but is it the best for everything and everyone?

I wont be buying one but maybe I am happy with my current cameras.

It is ok for mr Reid to state his opinion but to say the eve is poor is completely incorrect

Thanks to the op for posting this

Sam, Robin is not close to being impartial he is a very talented employee of Olympus . As for Andrew Reid I have found his site pretty fair. His ebooks on the GH3 and GH4 are excellent and have really helped me get to grips with video. In the end its all down to personal choice what suits one person will be very wrong for the next . It is not that the video on the EM5II is poor just that there are better options on older cameras and perhaps his expectations were to high .
