Thanks so much for the tips. I'm still a bit confused about using the focus ring along with auto focus. Do you focus with the ring and then let the auto take over? I just don't get how it's not one or the other, manual or auto.
Also, do you pay any attention to that focal length chart that shows when you are looking at the LCD or in the viewfinder (right above the exposure meter)? Just not sure what it's for.
other way around, half press shutter button, let AF do its thing then you may pursue MF with the focus ring to make adjustments (still holding half press shutter button), then follow through full press shutter button.
Regarding the distance meter, I think there were two Samsung lenses that have this feature, not sure if the other was the 85mm. I cant specifically answer your question, am a hobbyist and have never really found a need for it. However I guess its the digital on-screen version of the incremental distance markings on the focus rings of many lenses out there.
I had way too much fun with that lens in the past, remarkable what we take for granted and walk past, over, on top of every day as we go about our business. It really is incredible what exists at the infinitesimal level in the most obscure and unassuming locations...like a small car park flower bed :- )
I agree this is going to be a fun lens to use. And I think a nice portrait lens on top of the macro.
Thanks for your comments.
