I've just done some tests and though I can't replicate the 50% rate, I did manage to vary the rate of frame drop-out by tweaking the shutter speed and other settings.

On a 250-shot time-lapse, 1 second interval, small fine 16:9 JPEGs:

1/8 sec , 223 shots

1/60 sec, 249 shots

1/8 sec with Vivid picture style applied, 235 shots

1/8 sec, Vivid picture style, interval increased to 10sec, 250 shots

Not sure I completely understand this yet, but you can evidently vary the dropout rate by altering the ratio between the shutter speed and the interval.

I think I know the answer It is an "undocumented feature". After seeing the above information I believe there is a technical reason.

It looks that the "interval timer" is actually a "software timer" with a very low accuracy:

1/8 sec, 223 shots @ 1sec : 1/8 * 233 = 27.875 + 223 = 250.875

1/60 sec, 249 shots @ 1sec : 2/60 * 249 = 4.15 + 249 = 253,15

IMHO if you need accurate interval timing with high frame rate then an external interval timer will be required.

Thanks, that makes sense.

Unfortunately, while I have a couple of Panasonic-compatible interval timers, the LX100 doesn't have a remote port to plug them into. Should be fine for the GX7 though.
