Hi Neil,
Thank you very much for this detailed answer. I guess I will have to find some NX flash to try to see which problem it is. Just to clarify, I did not see any Error report on my screen. The only symptoms are (i) pressing the flash pop-up button has no effect; (ii) in Function menu, the choice of Flash icon is grey (not available for selection to change the setting of the flash). Does these give more clue which problem is more likely?
By the way, if I need to get it repaired eventually, do you suggest getting in contact with Samsung service or just try to find some local camera store?
Thanks!
I wasn't sure if you were getting an error "message" or the grey icon - either way this indicates that the camera does not recognise that the internal flash is present. I don't think I can offer any further advice except to try someone else's NX flash unit. Perhaps you could take it into a store and see if they can either let you try a showroom flash unit or make some suggestions. Bear in mind however that unless they think you are likely to buy something or pay to investigate a repair they may not be too helpful (this is likely to be the case in the UK!)
It may be worth searching this forum for Samsung repairs. I have only had one interaction with Samsung support in the UK and while they were fairly quick to respond to my enquiry the cost just to look at my NX100 was more than I paid for it so I didn't take up the offer. Some have had good and others poor experience with Samsung support but it does seem to depend on the region where you live.
Thank you for your helpful advice. I will definitely try to search the forum for posts about Samsung service.
