Magic Lantern gave me a new camera!
2

I just finally installed ML onto my 500D/t1i. I needed manual video controls, and it was the only way to get them. I am actually pretty shocked at how many other functions are available on my camera now. I have focus peaking, automated focus stacking, video games, timelapse, and much more. The controls are sometimes a little hard to learn, but that is to be expected when there are not many available buttons on the camera for the functions.

It kind of makes me wonder how a small group of programmers can put features like this into a camera (and they work very solid and reliably!) while Canon tosses us food scraps from the table every 4-5 years. It's quite clear they are trying to roll out as little features as possible over the years to think they are keeping people into buying new gear.

One thing is for sure, having ML for Canon cameras will keep me biased towards their brand if I upgrade the crop camera. I now want to get it onto my 6D.
