As long as it's clearly stated what actual level of weather sealing the camera and lens has, it's not a gimmick.

The problem with anything which is claimed to be weather sealed is that when that sealing fails to protect the equipment from weather it's supposed to cope with, the manufacturer only has the moisture detection strips inside the equipment to go by and they tend to be Dry/Wet indicators only.

Do Olympus quote an IP Code for their weather sealed items?

Nice to see some common sense being stated plainly. There are industry standard for Intrusion Protection, it is not a case of just saying whatever you want.

WR is very important to me and is the primary reason for my latest purchase - so I am not buying marketing puff, I am getting sealed construction to protect my investment. Or this just about attacking Olympus and ignoring the WR claims by C and N pro-series gear?

And of course the OP conveniently ignores the fact of thousands of cameras that have proved that weather sealing is not a gimmick - just like my E-M5 and 12-40 zoom that stood up to sand and saltwater splashes for the last two days.

If you don't want weather sealing then dont buy it and stop be a whiny pants.
