Sports Action with e-p5

I use pen e-p5 + vf4 + 35-100 f2.8 to shoot club rugby from the touch line. At the outset, I know some would say, and maybe will, give up and buy DSLR.

None the less the results aren't bad; good numbers of keepers and improving with practice.

I have settled into using SAF with single small central focus target and keep 'pulsing' half press on the shutter release while tracking action through the vf, then (obviously) press all the way to capture. My attempts to use CAF, with or without tracking, don't seem to offer much if any improvement. In all honesty, I haven't really gained any real confidence with CAF, reverting ,(probably too easily) to SAF..

The 35-100/ep5 work very well together, virtually no detectable delay in focus lock and very few false locks. If anything, I would say that CAF seems to introduce dither that doesn't feature with SAF used as above.

My question: thoughts and experience welcome on how best to optimise settings/mode of the camera in this application.

Thanks in anticipation, cheers, Paul
