NX1 Video Problems - Please help!
1

This is driving me insane.

I bought the NX1 as a hybrid camera / camcorder.

As a camera I cannot fault it, it is excellent. Where I am really struggling is with the video. I have taken some shots in 4k and compared to what I see others are getting I really am underwhelmed.

I read people saying things like the 4k image quality is stunning, or render the 4k files out at 1080p for razor sharp HD files.

I am just not getting anything close to this. I record the footage at 4K pro quality and I am using the 16-50s with OIS set to on both on the lens and on the camera.

Whilst I of course can't keep the camera dead still when hand held I can keep it pretty still but no matter what I do, if I pan slowly, If I keep still I just get a horrible judder/flicker on the rendered files. Also, if I pan slowly across greenery or foliage I get this horrible shimmer/flicker there as well.

This is my workflow.

Manual mode with Auto ISO. 4k UHD 25p, 1/50, aperture anything between 2.8 and 8 depending on what I am shooting.

I then taken the 4k files and have converted them to ProRes 422 HQ using Wondershare, ProRes 422 using Rocky Mountain, and High Quality 4K files using Samsung's own converter.

I then bring them into FCPX as ProRes 422 HQ optimised media and then do nothing more than add them to the timeline and render them out as 1080p H.264 MP4 files.

The results are then as I mention above. I don't hear of anybody else experiencing this, I just read rave reviews of how fantastic the quality is.

Where am I going wrong. I really don't want to return this camera but I don't know what else to try.

Edit:  Even if I stabilise in FCPX areas of the screen just flicker quite badly.  55" Plasma TV.
