The test was a valid head to head comparison of the two lenses in real world shooting and the F4IS is clearly better , although there may be some who are annoyed and own the 2.8 so will go all out with clever explanations as to why the tests are invalid - who cares- on you go.

In reality when i am photographing a wedding or event with this lens i am hardly going to stop and work out my hyperfocal distance or how close to focus and thereby miss the shot , i expect the focus to be where i put it and as much of the shot to be sharp as possible , this lens clearly delivers that, the 2.8 version does not.

Thank you! After several months of serious use, I am just as pleased with this lens as the day it arrived from Amazon. I've shot several seriously nasty low light assignments and found that i do not miss the f/2.8 speed at all.
